Filibuster Dual Cask Rye Whiskey

Filibuster Rye is made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. As with Filibuster Bourbon, the rye is initially aged in virgin, American oak casks. As a result of rye, rather than corn, dominating its mashbill, however, Filibuster Rye is slightly spicier, and has subtle undertones of toasted rye bread and chili peppers. After its initial beauty rest, the rye whiskey is also double-barreled in French oak casks that were previously used to mature wine. This dual-maturation process softens the spicy notes of the rye, and provides for hints of dried apricots, citrus and toffee, which are well-complemented by bold notes of peppery spice on the palate. Following its slumber in the French oak, the rye is brought to proof and bottled by hand.
